Loreburn Archers
Beginners Course
The Loreburn Archers Beginners’ Course is a 3 week coaching programme, which has become very popular over the years.
Due to limited capacity, completing this course is the only way for you to become a member of the club (unless you have previously been an AGB/GNAS shooting member of another club). The course is very friendly and you will meet new people with a similar interest in the sport. Loreburn Archers prides itself in having had past and present members become top Scottish, British and even Olympic champion.
The minimum age for the club is 12 years old and all junior archers (up to the age of 16) must be supervised by a parent or guardian when attending the club. Archery can be a very dangerous sport, so we ask that everyone in the hall demonstrates appropriate behaviour at all times. Specific archery etiquette will be taught as part of the beginner’s course.
The course will run for 3 full morning sessions over 3 consecutive weeks. The first session will be a fun introduction to the club and the sport. This will be followed by 2 weeks coaching, where we will break down the technique of shooting into understandable bitesize chunks. We will also teach you about all the equipment used and how to set up and take down your bow correctly and safely.
Once the course is complete, if there are spaces available, you will be invited to join. The Club fees are broken down into two sections (Club Fees and Archery GB fees). Your archery GB fees are your affiliation to the governing body and you’r insurance to shoot, these fees would be due at the end of the course. The fees are set at the AGM (August) each year.
